Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Hebrew year, is on Saturday, September 30. On it, we must remember to DENY ourselves - which, according to the Rabbis - includes fasting. In this passage alone, we see YHWH twice commanding His people to deny themselves AND to make this a "permanent regulation."
Leviticus 16: 29 "It is to be a permanent regulation for you that on the tenth day of the seventh month you are to deny yourselves and not do any kind of work, both the citizen and the foreigner living with you. 30 For on this day, atonement will be made for you to purify you; you will be clean before Adonai from all your sins. 31 It is a Shabbat of complete rest for you, and you are to deny yourselves. This is a permanent regulation."
We invite you to check out our Yom Kippur teaching that uses the illustration of the faithfulness of former Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher, Sandy Koufax, who refused to pitch in the opening game of the 1965 World Series because it was Yom Kippur!
Please, what is your take on the Karaites?
ReplyDeleteAre you showing us Rabbinic or Karaite when talking Feasts, etc.
BEAR
"Bear", I think you've just "outed" yourself. Since you are supposedly "new" to this, you wouldn't even know to ask such a question. You wouldn't care. You would be happy to just KNOW about God's Appointed Times and to start doing them. I think it's time for you to move on and find yourself some other ministry to ask questions of. We're not answering anymore of your questions.
