What’s the deal with the endless Hollywood awards?

Isn’t strange that these days the Hollywood types are constantly clapping each other on the back with awards?  We have the Oscars, the Grammys, the Academy Awards, the Daytime Emmy’s, the Golden Globe awards, the MTV Music awards, the Billboard awards and a whole host of others.   They make their living by “acting” and “singing.”

I’m not saying those things are NOT “work”, but what’s the deal with the endless awards for these things?  Why don’t we have awards for people go have “regular jobs, who spend every day digging ditches, building roads, bridges and houses, conducting trains, teaching kids, doing legislative or administrative work, flipping hamburgers, serving food, cleaning houses and buildings, or doing the most important job in the world: raising and teaching children to become good, godly, productive, hard-working, adults who will contribute something to the world?

More importantly, we must remember that the praises of men meaning nothing, because our REAL “award” is the privilege of living for YHWH whose REWARD for us is eternal life with Him.  Halleluyah!  (1 John 2:25, John 5:41; John 12:43, etc.)  Unfortunately, most Hollywood “stars” don’t know this, for their lives are all about themselves….

Ephesians 5:15. See therefore, that you walk with spiritual knowledge; not like the simple,  16. But like the wise who purchase their opportunity; because the days are evil.  17. Therefore, do not lack in understanding; but understand what is the will of Elohim.  18. And don’t be drunk with wine in which is rebellion; but be filled with the Spirit.  19. And converse with yourselves in psalms and hymns; and with your hearts sing to Master YHWH in spiritual songs.  (AENT)

Philippians 2: 3. And do nothing in strife or in vain glory; but, with humbleness of mind, let each regard his neighbor as better than himself.  4. And let not each be anxious (only) for himself, but everyone also for his neighbor.  5. And think you so in yourselves, as Y’shua the Mashiyach also thought;  6. who, as he was in the likeness of Elohim, did not regard it sinful to be the coequal of Elohim;  7. yet disinherited himself and assumed the likeness of a servant, and was in the likeness of men and was found in fashion as a man;  8. and he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even the death of the stake.  9. Wherefore, also, Elohim has highly exalted him and given him a name* which is more excellent than all names;  10.  that at the name of Y’shua every knee should bow, of (beings) in heaven and on earth and under the earth;  11. and that every tongue should confess that Y’shua the Mashiyach is YHWH, to the glory of Elohim his Father.  (AENT)

FOOTNOTE:  More that his literal birth name Y’shua (which was and is a common Hebrew name), and more than the perfect reputation that his name represents. Y’shua bears the Name of YHWH, the “name above all names”!  Y’shua has the Name and reputation of the Father YHWH in him (John 17:11) and the name means “YHWH is Salvation” (Matthew 1:21).

Proverbs 12:11 Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.

  1. Does "worthless pursuits" and "vain glory" apply equally to the athletic industry?

  2. Absolutely YES! Just look at to whom glory is sought in the athletic industry. It's certainly not God! Athletics is, in many ways, the same as the "entertainment" industry (Hollywood). The pursuit is entirely for $$$ and fame - nothing for God. (Even Tim Tebow, bless his heart for his on-field knee-bends to God. Scripture is clear not to do those things when in the godless public so Tebow's visible "sign" of his faith was clearly nothing more than a "look at me" sign.)
