Two great little teachings in one handy-dandy passage!

(1) Have you ever encountered anyone who insists there was no such thing as fermented drink in the Bible? They'll try to tell you that, whenever Jesus turned water into wine (John 2:1-11), it was nothing more than grape juice. Well, according to Leviticus 10:8-10, they are wrong!

(2) I've always disliked the label of "Mosaic Law." No part of the Torah was "Mosaic" - Moshe didn't have any "laws"; he simply spoke what YHWH told him to. Leviticus 10:11 proves it:

Leviticus 10:8 ADONAI said to Aharon, 9 "Don't drink any wine or other intoxicating liquor, neither you nor your sons with you, when you enter the tent of meeting, so that you will not die. This is to be a permanent regulation through all your generations, 10 so that you will distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean; 11 and so that you will teach the people of Isra'el all the laws ADONAI has told them through Moshe."
