Monster Energy Drink Hype

Many are running around saying the three "claw marks" on cans of Monster Energy drink are actually three Hebrew letters, the "vav".  And they argue that since the Hebrew "vav" carries the numerical value of 6 that "vav vav vav" is thus "666" - the mark of the beast!  Here is the logo:


And here is the Hebrew letter "vav", repeated 3 times:



So these people say this is "666".  But they are wrong.

Yes, the Hebrew letter "vav" has a numerical value of 6, but
Hebrew letters are additive so IF one assumes the claw marks on the cans are the letter "vav", then it would be "18", not "666".   Hebrew letters do not covey the decimal notation of arabic numerals.  In other words, the "left-most 6" does not represent "600", but simply retains its numerical value, "6".  Similarly, the middle 6 does not mean "60".  So "vav vav vav" is simply 18.  Saying it represents "666" is just ignorance.

There is no doubt that Monster Energy drink is marketed to the godless masses, especially youth, just visit the monsterenergy.com site to convince yourself of this, but to "make up" outrageous claims as to the meaning of the logo puts you in the same ilk.

    Just my thoughts I want to know. Very Interesting about "18" "vav" because of "repeated 3 times"....

    Question about Revelation 13:18:

    First read Waw (wāw, also vau or vav) is the sixth letter of the Northwest Semitic family of scripts, including Phoenician, Aramaic, Hebrew, Syriac, and Arabic ("sixth" in abjadi order; it is 27th in modern Arabic order).

    In Arabic and thus in most Semitic languages it represents the sound [w].

    Vav literally means hook/peg/spear.


    I wonder if this also is in Revelation 13:18 ....some says 18 because waw: "www" (same as vav: "vvv") example: WORLD WIDE WEB..."WWW" 666 means 18, too? Need your feedback. ;)

    According to a footnote to Revelation 13:18 in the Aramaic English New Testament:

    In terms of the number of the Beast, the name "Nero Caesar" adds up to a Gematria of 666 in Hebrew and Aramaic. However, this never works in Greek or Latin, as Origen found out to his dismay in the late Second Century. While this book of Revelation is written outside of specific "time" as we know it, the examples and instances of the past and present, ultimately repeat themselves while racing towards their final fulfillment.

    Although 666 is haSatan's identifying number, the Anti-Mashiyach types also wear this number. Anti-Mashiyach can relate to humans under haSatan's control, those who use positions of power and authority to wreak havoc. Rav Shaul teaches he is the "man of lawlessness" but still a man; 1 Thessalonians reveals that the man has false divine aspirations.

    Human manifestations of haSatan are men like Nero, who is a shadow of what is to come. Rome has long been the focal point of evil, so how much more would the Emperor reflect that, especially when he murdered both Rav Shaul and Keefa!

  3. Thanks Tamra, but there is much potential confusion here! No, it is not the same thing to take the 3 repeated "vav" and because the "sound" of the vav in some languages has become a "w" sound, and replace the vav with "w" to get "www" and have it mean "666" or "18". The "w" here only represents the SOUND of the vav - the letter "w" does not replace the Hebrew letter "vav". The letter "w" does not have a "value"! Vav has the value 6, while a "w" has no value. (The "vav" also can sound like an "o" as in "do", and we can't put 3 "o" together as in "ooo" and have it mean anything either! In this case again, the "o" simply represents a SOUND of the vav.)

    But more importantly, we are not talking about the numeric order of a letter in an alphabet. We are talking about the numeric VALUE of a letter. You quoted a source which said "First read Waw (wāw, also vau or vav) is the sixth letter of the Northwest Semitic family of scripts, including Phoenician, Aramaic, Hebrew, Syriac, and Arabic" - a true statement, yes, but this is talking about the numeric order within an alphabet, not a letter's "value".

    Hebrew letter have a numeric VALUE and a numeric ORDER, while English letters only have a numeric ORDER.

    English:
    Letter: A B C D E F G H I J K L M ... .... Z
    Order: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 ... .... 26
    Value: - - - - - - - - - - - - - ... ... -

    See? I can't give any English letter a "value" - they have no "value"!
    Example: "M" is the "13th letter", but what is the "value" of an "M"? Nothing! English letters don't carry a "value".

    Hebrew:
    Letter: ת ... .... ל כ י ט ח ז ו ה ד ג ב א
    Order: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 ... .... 22
    Value: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 20 30 ... ....400

    (I hope my English and Hebrew listings is clear. I did not have room to list the whole alphabet.)

    See the "value" of "Kaf Tet Hey" is 20 + 9 + 5 = 34 even though the letters themselves are numbers 11, 9 and 5 by order. It is the VALUEs that add, not the ORDER. So any Hebrew word that has a "Tav" in it will automatically make a word value greater than 400, because the value of a Tav is "400". So "Aleph Tav" is 401.

    Thus in English, "www" adds up to ..... NOTHING! The "W" is the 23rd letter, but "23" means nothing because the "w" has no "value".

    So in Rev 13:18, it says "... it is the number of a man: and its number is six hundred and sixty and six". So whatever word is for the beast, all the Hebrew letters in that mysterious word would ADD to 666, i.e., six hundred and sixty and six. This word could have MANY letters! But we'd need to know the Hebrew, not any other language.
