Y'shua never cajoled or begged anyone to believe Him. He simply said,
"Follow Me!" and moved on. (See Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; and Luke
9:23)
I saw in an anti-missionary thread recently where someone was
poking fun at Y'shua's comment, "Let the dead bury the dead" (Matthew
8:22) - and they insisted He was being "anti-Torah" which "proves" He
cannot be THE Messiah....
Well, the meaning is perfectly clear for those
who understand the whole of the Bible. Y'shua wasn't talking about
physically dead people; rather, spiritually dead. If someone is
spiritually dead, NOTHING you can say to them will matter, because they
don't and can't understand (1 Cor. 2:14).
In other words, "leave those
people alone and move on. Don't waste your time because they don't want
to hear what you have to say." Matthew 7:6 tells us: "Do not give
what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they
will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."
Thank you Sister Shali and this post makes sense and the verses hit it bullseye. I remember during the time that i was part of the Christian missionary and we went to South East on a mission to spread the word, on the first day, there were large number of people who greeted and meet us. But we didn't bring anything with us for those people like gifts or medicines or stuff like that like the other Christian Missionaries do but instead we conducted the bible study every night. The study goes on for 5 days and on the last day there were couple of people left or i can say still interested in our bible study. I was sad but like what you've said "NOTHING you can say to them will matter, because they don't and can't understand (1 Cor. 2:14)."
