How does Y’shua fit into Passover–and why didn’t this negate the need for Yom Kippur?

The short answer is this - and more can be found in this particular article on our website: Yom Kippur/Atonement.

Since Y'shua was our Final SIN Sacrifice/Offering, why do we have to bother with Yom Kippur? Well, Y'shua died to cover our sins so we could enter the Kingdom in spite of our sin nature. Thanks to him, our debt is covered - but the thing is, we still inadvertently sin and Yom Kippur is the ELOHIM-commanded day, a permanent regulation, to seek forgiveness for those sins!

On Yom Kippur, we are to spend the whole day remembering where and how we have wronged our Creator, and to seek His acceptance of our remorse and ask Him to forgive our errors....

  1. John Chrysostom looked upon the Jewish feasts with great disdain, and yet few will speak of his anti Semitism today. Rather, he is hailed as having a golden tongue. Here is a quote from one of his homilies:

"The festivals of the pitiful and miserable Jews are soon to march upon us one after the other and in quick succession: the feast of Trumpets, the feast of Tabernacles, the fasts. There are many in our ranks who say they think as we do. Yet some of these are going to watch the festivals and others will join the Jews in keeping their feasts and observing their fasts. I wish to drive this perverse custom from the Church right now." (from Chrysostom's Homily 1 in Adversus Judaeos, c386 CE)

    1. Thanks for your comments! Yes, we certainly have several "church fathers" who were responsible for "borrowing" the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and turning Him into their own pawn, negating His Divine Instructions and stripping Him of authority to further their own sick agendas. Constantine, Ignatius and Tertullian also come to mind....
