Using "the Lord's name in vain"....

Besides stupid memes that push lies, conspiracy theories and sensationalism, the other thing I really dislike is when people write and/or repost “messages from God” such as the below, which I saw this morning:

“GOD IS ABOUT TO ACCELERATE YOUR BLESSINGS!!! GOD IS SPEEDING UP TIME AS IT CONCERNS YOU TO ACCELERATE YOU TO YOUR PROMISES AND BLESSINGS... ALL OF A SUDDEN AND WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT, JUST LIKE A MIGHTY RUSHING WIND, GOD IS GOING TO SPEED THINGS UP AND INSTANTLY MOVE ON YOUR BEHALF....

YHWH never said this!  This came out of someone’s mind because they obviously want to bless people.  However, they didn’t stop to think that that is NOT how our Creator works.   I cannot emphasize enough how careful we must be about spreading messages like the one above, because this is clearly “using His Name vain!”  No one can legitimately make the claim that God is "speeding up their blessings" or that He will bless them if they forward this message to 20 people in the next 5 minutes, or whatever  – especially as a “blanket message” for all of Facebook!  YHWH doesn't work like that!

Unless one is on HIS Path (or He knows they are going to be on His Path one day) and strives to do His will on a daily basis, He doesn't "do" anything for them – especially not just because WE say so! (Proverbs 28:9 If a person will not listen to Torah, even his prayer is an abomination.)   We must be very careful about making promises "for" God.  (See passages such as Deuteronomy 5:10-11; Exodus 20:7 and  Leviticus 19:12.)

  1. Looks like another "feel good" teaching by a "feel good religion" and i'll never be surprised if the next sentence will be " if you give this such amount of dollars then your blessings will be double....". It seems like that christianity totally forgot that if we are in Y'shua then we will be persecuted.

Thanks for posting Sister Shali, Shalom!
