Debunking the assertion that Torah says mere men cannot atone for the sins of others!

Anti-missionary Jews and their converts are constantly challenging Believers in Yeshua with the supposed "gotcha" that YHWH never expected a MAN (human sacrifice) to make atonement for the sins of others. Please read on to discover why that is totally false!

RABBI ASSERTION: One man could NOT make atonement for others sins! The prophets never instruct the Jews to worship any crucified messiah or demigod; nor does scripture ever tell us that an innocent man can die as an atonement for the sins of the wicked. Such a message is utterly antithetical to the teachings of the Jewish scriptures.

RESPONSE: Well, then how do you account for the following passages in Torah? (And by the way, Yeshua MARTYRED himself, against which there is NO Torah prohibition. See the story of Isaac’s near sacrifice.)

Exodus 28: 36 "You are to make an ornament of pure gold and engrave on it as on a seal, 'Set apart for ADONAI.' 37 Fasten it to the turban with a blue cord, on the front of the turban, 38 over Aharon's forehead. Because Aharon bears the guilt for any errors committed by the people of Isra'el in consecrating their holy gifts, this ornament is always to be on his forehead, so that the gifts for ADONAI will be accepted by him.

Leviticus 6: 25 "Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, 'This is the law of the sin offering: in the place where the burnt offering is slain the sin offering shall be slain before the LORD; it is most holy. 26'The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting. 27'Anyone who touches its flesh will become consecrated; and when any of its blood splashes on a garment, in a holy place you shall wash what was splashed on.…

Leviticus 10: 16 Then Moshe carefully investigated what had happened to the goat of the sin offering and discovered that it had been burned up. He became angry with El'azar and Itamar, the remaining sons of Aharon, and asked, 17 "Why didn't you eat the sin offering in the area of the sanctuary, since it is especially holy? He gave it to you to take away the guilt of the community, to make atonement for them before ADONAI.

Priests were established to help the people live in an intimate relationship with the Eternal. Many times people would, by mistake, enter the sanctuary being impure which generated guilt among the people. That guilt had to be removed in order for the people to keep enjoying the Eternal's presence without being exposed to the danger of His anger against sin.

In order to eliminate that guilt, they had to burn on the altar part of the animals destined for this purpose and then eat the rest. So, on the one hand, part of the sin that was transmitted to the animal that bore the guilt of the people was burnt on the altar; and on the other hand the priests ate the rest of the animal and the sin within it. Through these two ways of consuming the animal, sin was removed from the people who, thus, were atoned before the Eternal.

In the Torah this offering is not called "sin offering" but just "sin" chatat – חטאת. In other words, it is written in this verse that the priests had to eat the sin. Since the people's sin was transmitted to the animal through hand imposition, sin was in the sacrifice itself, so it is then called "sin". So when the priests ate from the sacrifice, sin entered in them, and in that way it decomposed in their intestines in the natural way and then got disposed of.

This teaches us that a priest may introduce the sin of the people in his own body, in the form of meat. This makes us think of the Messiah who took the sin of the people of Israel and the world in his body so the Eternal could forgive our sins and cleanse us to be sacred dwellings for Him and also to be able to enter the heavenly tabernacle without danger.

"...who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed." (1 Peter. 2:24 NKJV)

"In a loud voice they sang: Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!" (Rev. 5:12 NIVUK)

Blessed be the Eternal for having given us Yeshua as heavenly priest who took our sins in his body and eliminated them! And blessed be Yeshua for his faithfulness as priest becoming responsible for our sins and taking them away to give us everlasting hope! And blessed are those who believe in the Messiah's sacrifice!

A short discussion of Peter's vision

Many attempt to use Acts 10 as proof that YHWH has made all foods clean.  But what does it really mean?  Let’s check it out….

ACTS 10: 10. And he hungered and desired to eat.  And while they prepared for him, a stupor fell over him.  11. And he saw heaven being opened and a certain garment being held by four corners.  And it resembled a great linen cloth.  And it was descending from heaven to earth.  12. And there were in it all creatures of four legs, and creeping things of the earth, and birds of heaven.  13. And a voice came to him that said, “Shimon!  Rise up.  Slaughter, and eat!”  14. And Shimon said, “(Elohim) forbid, my Master, because I have not ever eaten anything that is defiled and unclean!”  15. And again a second time a voice came to him that (said), “That which Elohim has cleansed, you should not consider defiled!”  16. And this happened three times, and the garment was taken up to heaven. (AENT)

Many read the above and assume YHWH is telling Peter that "all animals are okay to eat, now - so, go ahead and eat!" But this is NOT what this is saying. Here is an analogy to help clear this up:

You are the parent of a 13 year old who wants to go see an R-rated movie. Your child begs you and you say NO! The child says WHY? You say, here, touch this hot stove....The child says "No, it's hot, you taught me not to touch a hot stove!" To which you say: "That's right, then don't question me when I say you cannot see an R-rated movie!"

So in Acts 10:13 when YHWH is saying "kill and eat", He is the parent soliciting the response from the child (Peter), and Peter gives the proper response: "No, I would not eat unclean animals, you taught me that". To which YHWH responds in verse 15: "That's right, now what I have cleansed, no longer consider unholy!"

Peter learns this meaning of his dream when he tells others about the dream at the beginning of Acts 11. Then in Acts 11:17-18 it becomes clear: 17. If therefore Elohim gives in an equal way the gift to Gentiles, those who believe in our Master Y’shua the Mashiyach, as also to us, who was I that I should be able to hinder Elohim.”  18. And when they heard these words they became silent and they praised Elohim.  And they were saying that, “Perhaps Elohim has given the Gentiles repentance to life.” (AENT)

A footnote in the Aramaic English New Testament explains:

Gentiles are called to enter into the Malchut Elohim to follow Mashiyach and observe Torah; this is not about the consumption of unclean food. Y'shua casts demons into a herd of swine Matthew 8, Mark 5, Luke 8. Swine meat is unclean, demons are unclean; Y'shua destroys both. Peter never ate unclean animals before or after this vision; followers of Y'shua don't eat unclean foods. The Hellenized Christian church endorsed eating unclean foods, because non-Jews have always eaten it as a cultural normative.

It is a continuum of pagan culture. Isaiah 66:17-24 clearly prophecies of a rebellious people who dine on swine's flesh, eat mice and choose to defy the Word of YHWH and His Mashiyach. Gentiles must not assume that these teachings single them out as unclean; Yehudeans are equally as unclean when choosing to defy YHWH and His Mashiyach (see Haggai 2:14; Ezekiel 44:22; Ezra 9:10-10:1; Isaiah 30:6-12; 65:2, 3; Jeremiah 5:22-31).

 

The bottom line is, it is very important to differentiate between that which is Kosher according to YHWH, and religious "tradition." If unclean food is prohibited for Jewish followers of Y'shua, it is also prohibited for non-Jewish followers; the Kingdom of Elohim is not divided. If unclean food has been proven unhealthy, then it is unhealthy for Jewish and non-Jewish bodies alike; there is One Mashiyach and One Torah.

What’s the deal with the endless Hollywood awards?

Isn’t strange that these days the Hollywood types are constantly clapping each other on the back with awards?  We have the Oscars, the Grammys, the Academy Awards, the Daytime Emmy’s, the Golden Globe awards, the MTV Music awards, the Billboard awards and a whole host of others.   They make their living by “acting” and “singing.”

I’m not saying those things are NOT “work”, but what’s the deal with the endless awards for these things?  Why don’t we have awards for people go have “regular jobs, who spend every day digging ditches, building roads, bridges and houses, conducting trains, teaching kids, doing legislative or administrative work, flipping hamburgers, serving food, cleaning houses and buildings, or doing the most important job in the world: raising and teaching children to become good, godly, productive, hard-working, adults who will contribute something to the world?

More importantly, we must remember that the praises of men meaning nothing, because our REAL “award” is the privilege of living for YHWH whose REWARD for us is eternal life with Him.  Halleluyah!  (1 John 2:25, John 5:41; John 12:43, etc.)  Unfortunately, most Hollywood “stars” don’t know this, for their lives are all about themselves….

FOOTNOTE:  More that his literal birth name Y’shua (which was and is a common Hebrew name), and more than the perfect reputation that his name represents. Y’shua bears the Name of YHWH, the “name above all names”!  Y’shua has the Name and reputation of the Father YHWH in him (John 17:11) and the name means “YHWH is Salvation” (Matthew 1:21).

Will “God put HIS candidate in office?” Why should He, since we're not a Torah observant nation?

I keep seeing people’s posts wherein they suggest “God will put HIS candidate in office.” I believe that’s totally false for several reasons – the first one being that the USA, for the most part, is not Torah observant. Very few even bother to keep YHWH’s commanded Seventh Day Sabbath (which is a SIGN between YHWH and His people - Exodus 31:16-17, Ezekiel 20:11-12) or the Mo’edim; not to mention, we are a pork and shellfish-eating nation, obsessed especially with bacon! (And when you try to explain why certain foods are "unclean" according to Scripture, you get people down your throat to tell you, “Jesus abolished all that!” or “That’s just Old Testament stuff.”)

I would even venture to say that most are NOT believers in YHWH or Yeshua, anyway – because if they were, they would walk as Yeshua did (1 John 2:6). And HOW did he “walk”? In TORAH!

Matthew 5: 17 Don’t think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete. 18 Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah – not until everything that must happen has happened. 19 So whoever disobeys the least of these mitzvot and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever obeys them and so teaches will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness is far greater than that of the Torah-teachers and P'rushim, you will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven! QUESTION: Has everything that "must happen" happened yet? Have "heaven and earth passed away? If not, then it seems believers are supposed to BE Torah observant today! The verse in Matthew 5:17-20 that says: "So whoever disobeys the least of these mitzvot and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven" is a major key, because it is talking about YHWH's commands!

What commands are they? TORAH commands - which still stand today ... and WE are obligated, as believers, to keep those that we can! We need to pay special attention to to those that have the word "forever" or "throughout your generations" attached to them. Why? Because "forever" hasn't ended yet! Not to mention, "fulfill" never meant "to put an end to." It means, Yeshua came to do His Father's will and to fulfill "the next thing on the agenda".....

Sure, we CLAIM to be a “Judeo-Christian” nation, but yet we, as a whole, are tolerant of blatant sinning. I mean, we have a President who lauds homosexuality and abortion; and he keeps praising a religion that has spawned an entire generation of terrorists who are literally holding the world hostage! Did YHWH put that guy into office? I think not! YHWH cares about HIS people…those who obey His commands; not those who willingly and deliberately ignore them, or pick and choose which ones they want to follow.

"His people" today seem to be few and far in between; tiny voices crying out in the desert. We are viewed as "kooks" in a sea of "religion and religiosity" - mere irritants in a world dominated by theology and opinion where decadence is king and everyone is encouraged to become "tolerant"....

And yes, we see in places like Numbers 11:16-17 that YHWH at one time personally chose the leaders HE wanted for Israel, but that’s because He had the entire nation of Israel in the wilderness learning to follow HIM! Do WE follow Him today? Nope....

YHWH has been allowing mankind the free will to CHOOSE, ever since Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden. And mankind keeps on failing - in part, because we don't look to Scripture for guidance; we don't use "common sense"; and we keep choosing leaders who in NO WAY uphold YHWH’s rules. Not even close.

Feeling distanced from God?

Are you going through some rough times that are causing you to wonder where God is and why He isn’t answering your prayers? Often, whenever this happens, we must look into ourselves – how are we living our life? Are we doing things OUR way, or HIS? Chances are, when we hit these “brick walls” it’s because we didn’t seek HIM before we made our decisions, and He has left us alone to learn a lesson while suffering the consequences of our actions. 

At that point, many stubbornly tend to become angry and begin to distance themselves from YHWH – which is a HUGE mistake! We are IN the end times and should be drawing closer to Him than ever, because as we see in Matthew 24:13, only those who endure to the end will be saved.

Below are a couple of examples of how to return to God – but keep in mind, Satan hates you and he wants to hurt/maim/kill you! He keeps us on a "merry-go-round" from which we cannot escape, because he knows our wants and desires and the "ruts" we are in. We are creatures of habit and will ALWAYS gravitate back to what we know …and what we WANT.

Example Number One:

A guy comes to a "fork" in the road. He looks to the left and sees a lot of bumps and potholes. He looks to the right and the road looks a lot newer and better, so he takes that one. He walks for a long time with no problems, then all of a sudden, he falls into a huge pothole - one so big, it takes him days to dig himself out. So, he goes back to the fork in the road, looks to the left and the right. The left has all those potholes and the right is still smooth, so he figures, now since he knows where that big pothole is, he will just walk around it, and so he takes that "right" road again.

When he gets to the pothole, he does walk around it, but didn't realize there was another, even bigger one on the other side, and he falls into that one, and it takes him days to dig himself out of it. Once he does, he goes back to the fork, but rather than to try to see where that other road leads, he once again decides to take the smoother-looking road...because now he knows where those two potholes are, and he'll just be extra careful this time....

Do you get it? We always try to fix ourselves the same way, from several different angles, doing what is "right" according to our limited human mindsets. We like to believe we are in control, never stopping to think that, if we were to let go of what we THINK we know, we could begin to find some better remedies and get to our final destination a stronger, smarter person. The other way - the way we THINK we know - can kill us! And that is what Satan is counting on. If you're dead, you won't have a chance to "get yourself right with God!"

Example Number Two:

"Little Foxes" - A parable: A mother fox had her babies in my barnyard a few years ago, and then she abandoned them. Naturally, I took pity on them and raised each one, myself. They were so cute and, once they started growing, they began to banter and play by grabbing a hold of my pant legs in hopes of keeping me from walking away. This was a lot of fun, but I noticed that as they got bigger, they were harder to drag along. By the time they became adults, I couldn't move at all when they descended upon my pant leg.

This is kind of like the "baggage" of our lives. It's usually not too bad at first, but as time goes along, it starts to become heavier and heavier, and pretty soon, it bogs us down altogether. For instance, when a spouse or a friend has hurt us, it will drive a wedge into our relationship forever unless we find a way to resolve it and then forgive and move on. Or, if we had an abusive childhood, we tend to become abusive parents - unless we recognize that we are perpetuating the same behaviors. Or, if our marriage ends due to physical, mental or emotional abuse and/or irreconcilable differences, we can't expect to find a new and healthy relationship until baggage from the old relationship has been resolved and forgiven and has no chance of interfering...

The ONLY way to become "baggage free" is to recognize the problem and be willing to confront it - and then forgive the other person (even if they do not wish to cooperate in this matter); and then turn the whole thing over to YHWH. He knows your pain, but He wants to help you grow and mature by allowing you to learn from, and overcome your problems. Accepting the "spiritual" world but not the "physical"?

It's one thing to accept and understand the things of the "spiritual" world.  It's another to accept and understand the physical world.

In the spiritual world, we understand that much is simply "not known" and we accept it on faith that it "is" or that it happened.  For example: "...these things are but written that you might believe that Y’shua is the Mashiyach, the Son of Elohim, and when you believe you might have in his name life that is eternal." (AENT).  We read the miracles of Y'shua, and we are encouraged to believe they happened, and we have faith that they did happen, without any proof whatsoever.  It helps us in our earthly walk to accept the scriptures and live by Torah, and it builds our faith that we are saved (meaning we will have received eternal life.)  We don't desire - or need - "proof" that the miracles performed by the Messiah actually happened.

Many other examples are found in the Tanach (often misnamed the "Old Testament").  Take for example the 10 plagues on Egypt in Exodus chapters 7 to 11. All the plagues are taken on faith that they happened, as scripture describes.  We hardly ever hear of anyone actually asking "how" the plagues happened, or even "if" they happened!  It is simply accepted and understood that they did happen!  I could list many other examples.

"Things which are hidden belong to Adonai our God. But the things that have been revealed belong to us and our children forever, so that we can observe all the words of this Torah." Deuteronomy 29:29 (29:28 in some versions) CJB

On the other hand, in the physical world, there are great numbers who insist on "proof" of things which are actually within their own powers to "prove".  Take for example those who refuse to believe the earth is a sphere in orbit around the sun, insisting instead the earth is flat and all the stars, sun and moon revolve around the earth!  It is well within the power of the intelligence of humans to discern that the earth, indeed, is a sphere in orbit around the sun, indeed; it's been revealed to us (look again at Deuteronomy 29:29, above), yet these people refuse to believe it!  There is ample evidence all around us, every day, that the earth is a sphere, in orbit around the sun, moving through space, yet people will choose to believe the earth is flat and that it is not moving!

Therefore, in matters of the spiritual world and in matters of Scripture they simply accept, by faith, the things of scripture did happen, and are true; yet for things of the physical world, of which they, themselves can see - they, they are simply blind. 

What is going on?

Have we a problem in our school system?  Do kids somehow get all the way through elementary and secondary education and miss the knowledge and skills needed to assess the world we live in?  How do they fail to develop the knowledge and discernment to understand that in today's world anyone can make a video and place it on "YouTube" purporting, for example, to "prove" the earth is flat? How can they not know that all the arguments in all the "flat earth" videos are simply bogus nonsense concocted by an unknowing individual?  A video on YouTube does not make it "proof" of anything! Simply observing the signs available to everyone, all people can see that the earth is not flat, yet put a video on YouTube "proving" the earth is flat and many will believe it! Similarly information found on INTERNET websites - most of which is complete made-up garbage, yet you find thousands of people foaming at the mouth blindly believing the drivel!  There are so many INTERNET websites which publish nothing but garbage, yet myriads believe and share the garbage with others! I say again:

What is going on???

(YouTube is not the only problem. There are thousands of popular websites which are also complete JUNK, but people flock to them and blindly believe and share the worthless articles on these sites as "truth".  Somehow, people have missed the fact that many websites are nothing but "content farms" (look it up) and with these websites, absolutely nothing needs to be the "truth" because the only purpose of the website is to make money!  These "content farm" websites don't care about honesty and accuracy, they only care about viewership/readership!  The more viewers, the more $$$ they make.  Examples of a content farm are "beforeitsnews.com" and "examiner.com" - and there are many, many more.)

I saw the other day a meme on Facebook - you know what a "meme" is - it's a graphic with some wise (or dumb) saying, or some political statement, or maybe just a pleasantry of some kind.  It's spread from person to person to person by "sharing".  Well, this meme was a photo of the illustrious criminal, Edward Snowden, and the meme purported to be a "quote" from this thief which claimed, he (Snowden) had documents which showed the US, UK, and Israel had "conspired to create ISIS"! A little research revealed the meme was a complete lie, a hoax, and that no such quote was made by Snowden, nor did he have any documents suggesting it. (Even Snowden's personal lawyer denied the quote as a hoax).  Yet, people believe the meme and readily shared it!  I say again:

"WHAT IS GOING ON?" 

In another example, I saw a short video clip on FaceBook of a middle eastern man in a white robe (known as a thawb or thobe), riding one of those two-wheeled "hoverboards" (you know, the kind in the news recently, warning the public of the fact that many were catching on fire).  The man fell and when he hit the ground, "he" blew up! Of course the video was intended to be a "ha ha" moment for some unfortunate "terrorist" - and many seeing the video clip added their two-cents about how it "served him right".  Problem is, anyone with a brain could see that the video was a hoax! The "explosion" was not real! Someone created the video and put it "out there" on the INTERNET for the gullible to "share" - and share they did!  Can I say it again? 

What is going on?

How is it that we've reached this point in human existence when so many can be so ignorant that they can't use their God-given brain and assess the physical world?  Scripture says "the things that have been revealed belong to us and our children forever", yet so many of the things revealed (long ago) are today mired in ignorance and nonsense!  I am really concerned about humanity!  How is it possible, today, with so much knowledge, so many believe complete nonsense like the "flat earth", "planet X", "chemtrails", "man did not land on the moon", "government conspiracy", etc., etc.?   How? How?

The special relationship between YHWH and His Son

Yeshua speaks to His Father…How can anyone NOT see their special relationship?

YOCHANAN—Chapter 17 

1.  Y’shua spoke these things and he lifted up his eyes to Heaven and said My Father the hour has come.  Glorify your Son so that your Son might glorify you.  2. Just as you have given him authority over all flesh that whomever You have given him, he will give to him life that is eternal.  3. Now this is life that is eternal, that they might know You, that You are the Elohim of Truth, and he alone whom You have sent, the Mashiyach Y’shua.  4. I have glorified You on earth.  The work that You have given to me to do I have finished it.  5. And now glorify me my Father with You in that glory that I had with You from before the world was.

6. I have made Your Name known to the sons of those men whom You had given to me from the world. They were Yours and You have given them to me, and they have kept Your Word.  7. [1]  Kadosh/Set Apart means that YHWH and His Word will never change; we can put our trust in Him knowing He will keep His Word. (If you have an AENT, see Unity of the Name of YHWH in Appendix.)

[2] A very key passage. Aramaic literally reads that YHWH gave His Name to Y’shua; therefore, he has the Name of his Father within him.

[3] Y’shua keeps them in YHWH’s name so when we call upon YHWH in Y’shua’s name, we are calling on YHWH for Salvation.  As the Name of YHWH is in Mashiyach, so are we to have the name of Mashiyach in us, which means that as followers of Y’shua we are to walk according to his righteousness, observe Torah and walk in the anointing of the Ruach haKodesh as Mashiyach demonstrated to us.
