While Dr. Snelling says "Genesis 7:11 tells us that a unique geologic event took place at the same moment as the Flood began", I would argue Genesis 7:11 says no such thing! It is only speculation that Dr. Snelling concludes "a unique geologic event took place"! Isn't it equally likely that water simply began welling up from the dry land where it had not before and it began to rain, thus flooding the dry land? Why speculate that "meteors triggered" the event and that "huge quantities of hot subterranean waters and molten rock [were released] into the ocean"?

Indeed, if the flood began with such a catastrophic event such as giant meteor strikes it would have resulted in plumes of rocky debris and clouds of noxious gases and heat. Yet Genesis says nothing of such.

What's wrong with simply taking the Genesis narrative for what it says? The flood began, and it covered the earth and destroyed all living things which were on dry land.
