One nation, high and overdosed!

I don’t know about you, but it worries me that yet more states have legalized recreational pot use.  My first husband (back when I was young and idealistic) was a drug addict who accidentally killed a friend of his in Vietnam while high on Heroin – something that not only ruined his life, but also the lives of his family who had to live with the knowledge that one of their own took someone else’s life in such a manner.

Chuck would take whatever would give him a “high”.  He would lie, cheat, steal and use our last dollar to get a “fix” – and he would do all kinds of stupid things while he was high … and then laugh it off with the excuse, “Well, you can’t hold it against me, babe. I was high.”  Our “friends” consisted of nothing but drug addicts and bums, and I wondered how I could have been stupid enough to allow myself to be dragged down into such muck and mire, because I’ve always been “straight.”  I didn’t “do” drugs and absolutely hated the smell of pot and whatever else Chuck and his friends would smoke.

Whenever I threatened to leave, he would use his - “Babe, I need you to help me get straight; I can’t do it without you!” - card.  “But Chuck, you’ve had two horrific car accidents in the last six months, that put people in the hospital - and you’ve lost your driving privilege in this state forever!”  “Well, yeah babe, but I was HIGH!!”

Our marriage lasted two years, and it was two years of absolute hell.  There came a point when I realized the only “help” he REALLY needed from me was my income! He had been using me all along, because I was the only one dumb enough to believe he really needed my help!  (We were both in the Army, and back then, the pay was pretty dismal, which meant, neither of us had money to spare.)  So, needless to say, I had finally had enough of Chuck by the time he killed his friend in Vietnam. There was NO doubt in my mind that he would kill me one day, and I wasn’t about to stick around to let some moronic drug addict take my life….

Bottom line:  I saw firsthand what happens to those who have no self-control or self-respect.  Back then, living among these druggies, I came to see how most don’t WANT to come out of the lifestyle.  They LIKE it!  They think it’s cool.  They will do whatever it takes to maintain that lifestyle, using the gullible for support, in any way they can.

Therefore, I don’t care what excuses pro-pot people are advocating!  I posit that legalizing pot (or any other “recreational drug”) is a dangerous move because way too many have NO common sense and will abuse the privilege!  The National Institute on Drug Abuse says that Marijuana CAN be addictive; so, we can pretty much do the math on the results of that….

Some don’t even have the common sense to recognize the symptoms of “getting hooked” on prescribed drugs (which is part of the reason we have an “opioid epidemic” today). Instead of realizing, “Gosh, I’m getting too dependent on this stuff,” they just go with it and let the chips fall wherever they may.

"Medical use” is one thing; but legalizing another way to “get high” is dangerous on many, many levels!  Bill and I have witnessed plenty of “high” drivers since Colorado legalized Marijuana in 2012 – and let me tell you, it’s NO fun driving behind someone like that, or standing in line at the grocery store next to someone who reeks of weed!  It’s NAUSEATING!

This article pretty much outlines how marijuana will impact police work.

And please - there's no need to even bother defending weed by attempting to show that it's in the Bible, and "God made herbs for us to use!" Pro-weed advocates will twist Scripture in their efforts to convince you that God created everything and He said it was “good.” That argument does not address the problem that not all plants that are part of creation are edible, nor the fact that the original creation was impacted by sin, which means that some things created may no longer be in their original state. One must use common sense and wisdom when discerning the use of something made by ELOHIM! Remember that hemlock and poison mushrooms are part of creation but are deadly as food….

If Marijuana was God-ordained, then WHY are there so many scriptures telling people NOT to be “high”? YHWH has made it clear that He does NOT want HIS people to be “drunk” – no matter what the medium! While Scripture does not talk about pot, per se, it DOES prohibit “strong drink” and being drunk – things that cause us to be impaired. Here are just a few examples for you to consider:

Ephesians 5: 14. Therefore it is said: Awake you who are asleep and arise from the dead, and the Mashiyach will illuminate you.  15. See therefore, that you walk with spiritual knowledge; not like the simple,  16. But like the wise who purchase their opportunity; because the days are evil.  17. Therefore, do not lack in understanding; but understand what is the will of Elohim.  18. And don’t be drunk with wine in which is rebellion; but be filled with the Spirit.  19. And converse with yourselves in psalms and hymns; and with your hearts sing to Master YHWH in spiritual songs.  20. And give thanks to Elohim the Father at all times for all men in the name of our Master Y’shua the Mashiyach.  (AENT)

Proverbs 20: 1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. (CJB)

Proverbs 21: 17 Whoever loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and olive oil will never be rich. (CJB)

Proverbs 23: 20 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, 21 for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. (CJB)

Proverbs 31: 4 It is not for kings, Lemuel— it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, 5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. (CJB)

Just something to think about as America heads towards legalizing something that is only going to serve “the economy” – while committing its victims quickly into the pit.

    1. Kevin, if I knew that, I'd be a millionaire! I've never understood the sick desire to put harmful chemicals into your body that mess with your mind and kill off brain cells....

  3. Obviously you've had a bad experience with someone who uses drugs and you are still angry at yourself for being so naive and I truly am sorry. But speaking from the other side of the spectrum, I am a mother of 3,diagonised with H.I.V.
I use marijuana to curb anxiety. (otherwise I would be on prozac.)I don't tell anybody except for my pastor, my husband (who does not smoke) and a few family members. I do not ask or encourage anyone to participate in my activities.A few points I would like to make, though, is that marijuana was known for its medical capabilities as far back as the 1840s and it was also used in World War II. The only reason why the US made marijuana illegal in 1930 (only 70 years ago)is because of the influx of Mexican Americans to the United States. They wanted to control the influx, and they knew that the mexicans like their  canibus and if they got caught with it they can deport them, also because it made white woman want to sleep with negro men, which they do anyway without the help of this particular drug. And the one big excuse they're not telling you ....is they have yet to find out how to make money off of it. Since they can't tax it, they make it illegal so you have to pay a fine if you're caught with it.Canibus is not nearly as dangerous nor has it caused as many deaths as legal drugs like tobacco and alcohol and other concoctions our government, conspiring with big PHARMA, pushes on us like; hydrocodone, valium, and even over counter cough medication such as nyquil. At least with smoking marijuana we know what we're putting in our bodies. Elohim gave us every herb to eat for food in the Torah ( that's the Old Testament for you Christians) The Hebrew verb translated as eat in KJV actually means to burn, consume or devour. In Bible times canibus was used for lotions, ointments, paper, fuel, and clothing. Why would the government want to take such a valuable, easily attainable, resource from it's people? Racism and money of course, since they can't tax it they make it illegal. If you're found with it they can fine you. These are the roots this country was built on.There has never been a serious research done when it comes to marijuana smoking other than by those who are either critics or racist also,I'm sorry you don't like the smell of it,but I usually don't go  out with some kind of perfume or scented oil in my bag to mask the smell for those who don't particularly agree with my choices, which is much more than I can say for the cigarette smokers. when people choose  for themselves what is good  and what is evil , they decide that prozac is good because the government says it's legal and marijuana is evil because the government says it's illegal. Bible says in Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  You can see that right now as same sex marriage is legalized and men are able now to walk into women's restrooms  just because they like wearing stilettos.  I truly believe 100 percent that only Elohim himself knows what is good and what is evil. He laid down the law of sin and transgression .So next you go to a restaurant, or go home and rap your lips around a slice of  bacon, a pork chop, shrimp or some lobster please rightly divided the word of Elohim, my Lord's standards, not by your experiences and not by what the Christian Church  teaches you. Just to be clear I am NOT advocating the use of the more dangerous street drugs that are known to cause to harm those through accidental overdose and death such as Crack, heroine, or methamphetamines, just marijuana which you seem to have focused on.  I do not believe it is a gateway drug. I used to smoke cigarettes but now I only smoke Marijuana. By the way marijuana is known to actually help drug addicts stop abusing the more dangerous street drugs the ones  that scientific  evidence has proved cause overdose and death.

  4. Thanks for your comments. We're sad to hear that you've moved from one addiction (cigarettes) to another - both of which ruin your lungs. If you'll remember, since you mentioned Elohim, that He gave us lungs for the purpose of BREATHING, not inhaling smoke. :)

  5. Hi Carmen, do you think that there is a deeper meaning to the use of pot. I was talking to a reproduction vet, and she should me some evidence on slides that showed that it removes the top of sperm head of MEN! I saw an old movie that had a demons in it, and all its counter part had crushed heads. I know it was just a movie but, maybe just maybe are they telling us something?

  6. Thanks for your comment, Richard, but NO, I don't think there's a deeper purpose. That's merely conjecture. :)
