There were lots of "firsts" in the first Torah portion of the new year!

For those who studied the first Torah portion of the new year (Genesis 1:1 – 6:8), you surely noticed that it covered a LOT of territory!  Did you notice all the “firsts”?  Besides the Creation of the Universe and everything in it including mankind, we had:
*  The first Torah rules given (Genesis 2:16-17 )
*  The first act of deceit/two-facedness (Genesis 3:1-5)
*  The first act of disobedience to YHWH’s Torah  (Genesis 3:6-7 )

*  The first “blame game” (Genesis 3:8-13 )

*  The first time we see YHWH express anger  (Genesis 3:14-24)
*  The first blood sacrifice to atone for sin (Genesis 3:21)
*  The first known offering/sacrifice by mankind (Genesis 4:3-7)
*  The first killing/murder  (Genesis 4:8 )
*  The first act of adultery (by a man who was a descendant of the murderer Cain) (Genesis 4:19 )
*  The second murder in the history of mankind by one of Cain’s descendants (Genesis 4:23-24)
*  The first record of man “calling on the NAME of God” -  יהוה (YHWH!) (Genesis 4:26 )

    1. Shali, I've been meditating on the Flood portion of Genesis lately. I know there are scoffers (2 Kepha 3:5) out there who question the Flood account in Scripture. I believe the Flood to be an original and true event.

      1. Love that scripture - 2 Peter 3:5. For this they willingly forget, that the heavens were of old; and the earth rose up from the waters, and by means of water, by the Word of Elohim. 6. (And), by means of these (waters), the world which then was, (being submerged) again perished in the waters. 7. And the heavens that now are, and the earth, are by His Word stored up, being reserved for the fire at the day of judgment and the perdition of wicked men. (AENT)

Yes, we told there was a flood and that Noah and his family restarted the world's population. We cannot pick and choose what we wish to believe of Scripture. We either believe all of it, or none of it.

    2. Shali, I am almost convinced that my conservative protestant seminary training and theology completely misunderstands the Bible. I have come to understand the unbiblical nature and source of the doctrine of the Trinity. And now I'm starting to see where we went wrong in vilifying the Torah.

But I need to be directed to a good source that thoroughly lays it all out and puts the scriptures and pieces together. I need to talk with a real live Torah observant follower of Jesus who can help me get the clarity I need to lead my family through this massive change in theology. I will extremely shunned and put out when I make it public what my views have become and I want to be prepared to answer questions in a way that will help others also see the truth. Can you point me to any one? I live in north Idaho, western Washington State. Please reply... I am a bit desperate now to find all I can.

    4. Actually the first act of adultery was when Adam and Eve ate of the tree of (compromise) good and evil.

    5. Also is the first time we see Lucifer as "darkness in the face of the deep".
And conversely the first time we see Elohim speak light or Torah and all in the course of the first day...
